Anoushka Cole is an artist and maker. Her process based practice is material and location led, often working with resources related to a certain environment.
With a background in textiles and material futures she utilises fibre, colour and printmaking to respond to place. Walking landscapes and learning to read an environment through it’s resources forms the starting point for her work. She leans into the process of slow making, intuitively learning hands on skills from the materials she works with. Her research aims to build more resilient making knowledge, regaining a bond to the earth and celebrating our local ecology. This process driven exploration revisits heritage crafts and shared historical practices. The work is focused on the process more than the outcome, believing that engaging to materials through physical touch invites us to critically examine our environments and the direct impact we have on place.
Alongside her studio practice, Anoushka teaches workshops focused on biomaterials, material making, printmaking and plant dyes, sharing knowledge, accessible methods of researching and open source learning.
